SELF CATERING HOLIDAYS IN THE SCOTTISH HIGHLANDS
Therese Muskus welcomes you to a little peace of Heaven where you can experience the wildlife and farm animals on a tranquil croft, and yet be close to many attractions and exciting places to visit.
Hiddenglen Holidays is on the croft of Laikenbuie situated four miles inland from Nairn, a seaside town on the Moray Firth in the Highlands of Scotland. The holiday homes (lodge, cottage, chalet, caravan) overlook a loch surrounded by natural birch woods and bog meadows full of wild flowers. You can watch roe deer, red squirrels, or glimpse a wild cat, or fox. We have seen over ninety species of bird, and greater spotted woodpeckers, along with red squirrels come to the bird feeders on the balconies. We are half an hours drive from Inverness and Loch Ness and just ten minutes from the sandy beaches and dolphins of the Moray Firth. There are 14 golf courses within an hour's drive, several castles plus the Speyside whisky trail.

LODGES (like warm cottages with a timber exterior).
Our lodges, Treetops and Kestrel's Nest, were both carefully built to the same design and high specifications. They are large (85sq m, equivalent to a three bedroom bungalow), well insulated, double glazed, and designed for wheelchair use. They provide a warm comfortable holiday home throughout the year, combining a lovely interior with a beautiful view. They have a Four Star Scottish Tourist Board grading.
Entry is through a utility room with both washing machine and tumble drier. This opens into the spacious south facing living room enhanced by pine panelling and a raised ceiling. It is furnished with soft chairs, dining table, colour TV and a selection of books and children's toys. A door opens on to the south facing balcony. The kitchen is set off the living room and has a gas cooker, microwave, fridge and all the utensils you will need.
Feel free to phone 01667 454630 anytime between 8am and 10pm. We get well booked by returning guests so are happy to chat without any commitment.
Or email us giving a landline number for us to answer any questions.
A central hall leads to the other rooms. The double room with king-size bed has an ensuite shower, toilet and wash basin. All the beds have duvets. The twin room and bunkroom (with full size bunks) are served by the bathroom which is suitable for wheelchair use. In Kestrel's Nest there is a mobile hoist. Car parking is adjacent to each lodge and there is a children's play area nearby with a large trampoline sunk into the ground. All our accommodation is no smoking inside.
Rowan Tree extends our range by providing a chalet that sleeps up to five, midway in size between the caravan and lodges. With car parking adjacent, entry leads into a porch with the washing machine and space for outdoor clothes, and on into the hall with access to all other rooms. The kitchen has a gas cooker, fridge/freezer and microwave plus all the utensils you will need. Open to the dining and sitting areas they all have a raised ceiling and south facing view over the loch. French doors open on to the patio.
There are three bedrooms - a double, twin and single. The bathroom has a shower with a tub incorporated.
With the same outlook over the loch our large modern caravan is 33ft by 10ft. Pisces has two bedrooms. It is Tourist Board inspected and very well equipped with a shower and toilet, full size gas cooker, electric fridge, cutlery and crockery, all cooking utensils, cleaning equipment and colour TV. The double bed and the bunks have duvets. Please bring duvet covers (or top sheet), bottom sheets, pillowcases, towels and teatowels - unless you want us to provide these at extra cost. The price includes gas and electricity.
Pisces has one double bedroom and one with 6ft bunks. The kitchen/living area is large with an attractive wood finish. With the dining area made into a double bed there is sleeping accommodation for six.
The Camping Circle
The tipi is no longer available so there is now a camp site in the circle of stones and trees for those wanting quiet simple accommodation. The extras include a nearby cold tap, a turf roofed cooking shelter with gas ring and a hole in the ground!
The items often forgotten are binoculars for watching the wildlife and wellies for exploring around the lake.
Our colour brochure has the same information as these pages, but less detail and fewer photos.Mrs Therese Muskus, Laikenbuie Holidays,
