LAIKENBUIE ORGANIC LAMB - FREEZER READY

Whole (20-24kg), or half lambs are available, freezer ready supplied by us on the farm where they are born and reared. (A half lamb usually fills a little over one drawer in an upright freezer.) Delivered in the Inverness/Elgin area @ £7.50 per kg (correct Oct 2011) for whole or half lambs based on official dead weight.

Leg of lamb (1.5 - 2.0kg) only £15 per kg.

Chops or rack (4 chops = 0.7kg) at £17 per kg.

Shoulder on the bone (1.7 - 3.5kg) at £10 per kg.

Mince (about 0.5kg) at £11 per kg.

Lambs are reared to Soil Association Standards - Licence No. G2210.
The sheep are kept outside with extensive grazing and shelter in every field.
The grazing receives no soluble chemical fertiliser or pesticide.
Most lambs are never wormed. The use of wormers has been greatly reduced by the use of a clean grazing rotation.
Vaccinations have been stopped, homeopathic nosodes are used.
Antibiotics are only used rarely, on an individual basis, when an animal is sick. The withdrawal period is 2 or 3 times that stated on the manufacturers label.
Lambs are taken direct to the abattoir at Grantown-on-Spey, which has been Soil Association inspected, in my own transport - no movements between farms, marts and groups of strange sheep.
The lamb loses its certified organic status when it is jointed by the butcher as he is not inspected. It is supplied, usually frozen, cut into oven ready joints.
